After months of speculation that Jameis Winston will go number one in the NFL Draft, rumors to the contrary are starting to leak.

In just 10 short days the NFL Draft will kick off; and for the first time will be held in Chicago. So no, we won’t have the pleasure of watching New York Jets fans moan and groan due to the most recent draftee by their beloved squad.1nfl2

Instead, Bears fans will be out in full force.

Even prior to the NFL Combine, the theme surrounding the 2015 edition was that Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston was a sure bet to go number one overall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The order of business – according to all experts – add Winston at No. 1 overall, and anybody’s best guess thereafter.

Recently, though, there have been some underground rumors that Tampa Bay ownership isn’t yet fully invested in the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner.

Via Charles Robinson of Yahoo:

One official from another team, who has been in contact with the Buccaneers about the possibility of trading picks, told me the Tampa Bay front office has gone from “gung-ho on Winston to we’re going to hold our nose and take him.”

Obviously, Winston is still the leader in the clubhouse to go with the top pick, but it doesn’t seem as clear as it did a few weeks ago.

Maybe the Glazer family is allowing the off the field stuff to get in the way of on the field abilities.

Now, they have to face the fact that Winston’s rape accuser, from his college days, is set to bring a civil suit against Winston. The Bucs have already stated that this suit will not sway their decision, but one has to wonder.

Not only do we have the Marcus Mariota indecision, but we now have questions surrounding Winston. What an interesting Thursday night it should be.

Whether this is just a smokescreen or not will quickly be answered in 10 days.
