New York Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan loves these type of signings. You know, we’re referring to the under-the-radar type signings that provide no excitement whatsoever.
In fact, eyebrows are raised when this kind of signing is mentioned in the news.
Just a couple days ago, it was announced the Jets inked CB John Ojo. Now, another signing of a little known NFL player is making the rounds.
Mikey Mac made offensive lineman Jonotthan Harrison the newest Jet. The deal is of the one-year variety for a total of $850,000. It’s likely that Harrison will receive an $80,000 roster bonus if active for the first game of the season. He could also snag up to $20,000 per game if dressed.
In other news, ESPN’s Monday Night Football color man Jon Gruden provides his thoughts and feelings on a possible Mitchell Trubisky to the Jets in the No. 6 hole situation, via Rich Cimini of ESPN New York.
“I can’t see them going that high for that,” Gruden said. “There’s a lot of unknown with some of these quarterbacks. Five of the seven are underclassmen. Trubisky has played one year of college football. I don’t know. A lot of it will be dependent on what they truly think of their young quarterbacks they currently have.”
On the surface, it appears Gruden doesn’t think it’s a likely scenario.
