Luke Bryan announces he will perform National Anthem at Super Bowl 51

Country star Luke Bryan announced on his Twitter on Sunday that he will be performing the National Anthem at Super Bowl 51.

On Sunday afternoon, country star Luke Bryan announced that he will be performing the National Anthem prior to kickoff at Super Bowl 51.

Within the past few years, the role of performing the National Anthem was very female dominated, with the last male performer being Billy Joel all the way back in 2007 when the Indianapolis Colts took on the Chicago Bears.

The last time Bryan performed at an NFL event was when he was the halftime performer for the 2015 Thanksgiving matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers.

However, despite being a very accomplished singer, Bryan faced criticism in 2012 when he performed the National Anthem at the MLB All-Star Game and was caught with words written on his hand.

“I had a few keys words written down to insure myself that I wouldn’t mess up,” Bryan tweeted in response. “I just wanted to do my best. I promise it was from the heart.”

Nonetheless, Bryan should not disappoint on February 5 when he performs the National Anthem at Super Bowl 51.
