New York Rangers center Mika Zibanejad is getting closer to making his long-awaited return from a broken fibula.

During his first campaign with the New York Rangers, forward Mika Zibanejad suffered a broken fibula on November 20 against the Florida Panthers.

Fans worried that the injury would keep Zibanejad out for most of the year. Not many experience quick recoveries from an injury like this, but on December 22, just four weeks after the injury occurred, Zibanejad is off crutches and is back on his feet.

Not only that, but the man started with the puck work prior to hitting the ice.

Zibanjad registered 15 points (5 G, 10 A) prior to the scary injury that saw him collide with the boards his team’s own net. He looks to return to the ice soon and contribute immediately for the first-place Rangers.

Head coach Alain Vigneault said, “He’s on schedule, and is working extremely hard to get back.”

It should be a few more weeks before Zibs will rejoin his club on the ice, but this progress is certainly promising.
