Seemingly coming out of nowhere, Jerry Reese and the New York Giants shock everybody by selecting Eli Apple in the 2016 NFL Draft.

As Jerry Reese and the New York Giants entered the 2016 NFL Draft, names such as pass rusher Leonard Floyd and cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III were on the radar.

By the time the 10th pick came and went, Eli Manning had a teammate he can call “Eli.”

The Giants made Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple their selection.

Apple, who’s only 20-years old, was a two-year starter for Urban Meyer. He’s quick, running a solid 2.4 40-yard dash, and does a tremendous job in man-to-man coverage.

The biggest transition for Apple at the pro level will come when he’s asked to play zone coverage.

Apple is also a local product, coming from Voorhees Township, NJ.
