While 2018 was a quiet offseason for the New Jersey Devils, the organization has received plenty of publicity over the past two weeks. Not only was legendary goaltender Martin Brodeur welcomed back to the Devils, but a notable rapper donned a unique sweater on stage for a show at the Prudential Center on Tuesday night.
Machine Gun Kelly was pictured wearing a customized New Jersey Devils jersey that paid tribute to one of his latest tracks, “Rap Devil.”
The track was aimed to take shots at the well-known artist Eminem and his 2013 track, “Rap God.” It’s apparent that the two Midwest artist have beef with one another after MGK tweeted out a controversial statement back in 2012 about Eminem’s daughter being attractive, to say the least.
Either way, the Garden State embraced the new track and dished out a memorable sweater to the 28-year-old who may also just have an official new nickname. Not only does the home Devils’ sweater have the numbers “666” stitched onto the backside along with “Rap D3VIL,” but there are letters “XX” on both sleeve areas where hockey players typically have their numbers placed at.
MGK rocking this jersey at the Rock for a concert to officially close out the summer and offseason will certainly turn heads around the entertainment industry. And, who knows, perhaps that more artists will embrace a customized New Jersey Devils jersey in the future while performing, whether it takes place at the Rock or not.
It should be interesting to also see if MGK continues to promote his awesome new jersey and if Eminem will take a stab back with a new sweater of his own. MGK is scheduled to take the stage in four different cities over the next five days.
