New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning spoke about how star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. looks on the field coming off his ankle injury.

There have been many issues to deal with for the New York Giants this offseason. Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.’s injury? Yes, that’s one of them.

On Friday, quarterback Eli Manning spoke to NFL.com’s Rhett Lewis at the annual Manning Passing Academy at Nicholls State in Louisiana. The conversation shifted toward Beckham and his injury. And in regards to this topic, the two-time Super Bowl MVP had some positive things to say. “He looks great,” Manning said. “He looks healthy.”

This is a sigh of relief to many fans who questioned Beckham’s status. OBJ’s season ended in a Week 5 game against the San Diego Chargers in 2017 when he fractured his ankle. He was inactive for the remainder of the season, however, participated in individual drills at mandatory mini-camp.

This injury has caused many to think not as highly of Beckham. In 2017, he was eighth on NFL Network’s Top 100 Players list. In 2018, he was 77th. This, of course, should motivate Beckham to get back on the field and return to the overly-productive wide receiver he once was.

“I think last year it was tough on him being injured and going through those things,” Manning told Lewis. “He wants to come out and have a big year, play well and get to scoring touchdowns and celebrating and having fun again.”

In the first three seasons of his career (2014-2016) Beckham had 1000+ yards each year and racked up 35 touchdowns in that time span. Last year, he only played in four games before his season abruptly ended.

However, looking healthy coming off the injury, and with a new coaching staff and offensive stance in place, it should be a big year for the former LSU Tiger.
