The New York Jets continue to add much-needed depth to their roster. Plus head coach Todd Bowles’ latest comments on No. 3.
We’re less than a month away from the biggest decision in New York Jets history. Maybe that’s hyperbole, but still, no pressure though.
It’s widely expected that this team will be taking a passer with the third overall pick in the NFL Draft. While the No. 6 pick has treated the Jets well recently with the additions of two stalwarts in Leonard Williams and Jamal Adams, head coach Todd Bowles seemed to like the move from six to three.
Speaking of quarterbacks, there are a few former Jets passers looking for work. Mark Sanchez could be a possibility out in Seattle under former college coach Pete Carroll.
Heck, even Geno Smith is getting serious looks from the Los Angeles Chargers.
My sources have also told me that Smith will be visiting the Seattle Seahawks as well. Could we have a Geno plus Mark reunion with the Seahawks? The NFL is such a small place.
While the team continues to fill out the rest of their roster in the second-and-third-tier market. The latest addition is linebacker Neville Hewitt.
While I can almost hear most Jets fans collectively saying, “Who?!,” here’s some more info:
- Formerly of the Miami Dolphins.
- Has started seven games in his three-year NFL career.
- Could provide some help in coverage for the team, which has been a problem area for years.
There are still a few holes on the roster for the green and white that include: depth along the offensive line, edge rusher help, a gaping hole at tight end, and of course quarterback. Although not because of quantity (the Jets have five guys right now), but more so quality, which has been lacking for quite some time.
