The New York Islanders continued their impressive offensively display this season with their second straight overtime win against the Flyers.

On Friday the New York Islanders continued their offensive explosion with a thrilling overtime victory against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The win was the second straight overtime win for the Islanders over the Flyers, completing a home-and-home series that started with their 4-3 overtime victory on Wednesday at the Barclays Center.

One very impressive trait about the New York Islanders is their ability to fight back when trailing. The Flyers entered the third period with a 4-2 lead, but the Islanders kept coming. New York registered 17 shots on goal and scored twice in the period to force overtime. It was the Islanders first win this season when trailing after two periods.

The hero on Friday was Nick Leddy who lit the lamp 2:44 into overtime.

For Leddy, it was his sixth goal and 19th point of the season, both of which lead Islanders defenseman. Leddy is one of five New York Islanders with 19 or more points. The St. Louis Blues are the only other team in the NHL that could say that.

Among the other New York Islanders to score were Andrew Ladd (5), Mathew Barzal (6), Jordan Eberle and Cal Clutterbuck (4). Mathew Barzal continued his quest for the Calder Cup this season, registering an assist to goal along with his sixth goal. His 22 points on the season leads all rookies.

The New York Islanders now have eight players with five or more goals this season. The balanced scoring from their four lines has made the Islanders the second highest scoring team in the NHL, averaging 3.7 goals per game. Even their checking line of Clutterbuck, Casey Cizikas and Jason Chimera has registered eight goals and 19 points on the season.

This was the 10th game this season which the New York Islanders scored five or more goals. That equals their total of last season.

Next up for the New York Islanders are the Ottawa Senators, who they travel to face on Saturday night. This will be the first game of the season against the Senators.
