The New York Rangers prospects played their third game of the Traverse City tournament today and for the second game in a row, they took far too many penalties.
The Rangers gave Detroit five power play opportunities tonight, adding to the four power plays they gave Carolina on Saturday night.
Tonight’s started out feisty as New York Ranger Adrian Carbonara fought Detroit Red Wing Givani Smith just two seconds into the contest.
Rangers goalie Chris Neal had an impressive game, as he made 32 saves on 36 shots. The last goal was into an empty net.
Rangers forward Ryan Gropp scored the lone goal tonight. The Rangers have only scored one goal in their last two games played. That coincides with first round pick Lias Andersson scoring a grand total of zero points in the first three games so far.
The Rangers will play one more game tomorrow in the tournament. However, they’ll have to wait to determine their opponent and time.
Whatever time it is, let’s hope the Rangers can snap out of this low-scoring funk.
