We say, “Happy birthday, Sam Rosen,” in this edition of the New York Rangers Blueshirt Beat.

There’s not a lot going on in New York Rangers land right now, but there’s still a little news to bring you.

Yesterday was announcer Sam Rosen’s birthday.

Rosen, who turned 70-years-old, has been the Rangers play-by-play announcer since 1984 and has shown no signs of slowing up. He has called numerous playoff runs, including the 1994 Stanley Cup run. His call from when the Rangers won game 7 is still one of the great memories in Rangers history.

ESNY writer Frank Curto was a busy man, as he wrote up a report about Pavel Buchnevich’s summer, specifically how much the young Russian hated the heat in Dubai. He also wrote a piece about NHL Network’s Rangers preview for this season.

Tom Castro of ESNY also wrote a piece about the expectations for Ondrej Pavelec this season, and how the Rangers would ideally see Pavelec get off to a good start so Henrik Lundqvist can get rest during the season.

We move another day towards the Rangers opening camp, and eventually towards another exciting regular season.
