Heading off on a high note

The New York Islanders have been doing an excellent job in getting their season turned around.

After kicking off 2017 with two mortifying losses to the Avalanche and Coyotes, the Islanders have helped dig themselves out of a hole.

Starting with a dominant effort against the Boston Bruins, the Islanders did not look back.

After the firing of coach Jack Capuano, the Islanders have found a new jump under Doug Weight.

Most recently, the Islanders have routed the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-2 at home on Tuesday.

Lineup Notes

Weight announced some roster changes earlier today in light of Anders Lee‘s recovery.

Lee’s return to the lineup will be joined with Anthony Beauvillier and Scott Mayfield finding their way back in as well.

Weight said the decision to remove Shane Prince from the lineup was a tough one, but that the young forward “will be back in soon”.

Stephen Gionta will sit as well for the Islanders.

Gionta had four strong games for the Isles coming in very handy as a depth center.

Thomas Hickey will sit tonight listed as “unfit to play”, likely meaning whatever illness Lee just got over.

Thomas Greiss get the nod in goal once more for New York.

The last time the Islanders beat the Canadiens, Evgeni Nabokov was in goal for a 2-0 shutout. The Islanders will try and break that streak tonight.
