In a spirited contest against the Dallas Stars on Thursday night, the New York Islanders were drastically outshooting their opponent when John Tavares finally found the twine.

John Tavares found the twine after his umpteenth shot on goal during Thursday night’s New York Islanders showdown with the Dallas Stars.

After undressing John Klingberg in front of the net, Tavares dangled his way in front of the net and finally put one past Kari Lehtonen.

Thus far, Tavares has two vies for the goal of the year, as his latest score joined this beauty against St. Louis in November.

Heading into the third period, the Islanders are outshooting the Stars 26-15.

After five power plays throughout the first two periods, the Islanders generated several chances, but no goals and are 0-for-19 in power play chances over the last five games.
