Without their most potent scorer in Taylor Hall the New Jersey Devils still found a way to knock off one of the better teams in the NHL.

Behind the strength of backup goaltender Keith Kinkaid, New Jersey knocked off the Washington Capitals by a final of 2-1 in a shootout. And boy did Kinkaid steal this one. Kinkaid’s final line consisted of 43 saves including two more in the shootout.

Daniel Winnick was the only Cap who solved Kinkaid on the night when he put one past the backup goaltender 3:50 into the final frame via the shorthanded variety.

For the Devils, P.A. Parenteau added his 10th of the campaign early in the second period. Both Mike Cammalleri and Jacob Josefson beat Braden Holtby in the shootout to secure the win.

The two teams will take a day off before going right back at it on Saturday night, this time in New Jersey.
