Following a scary moment for the New York Jets a few weeks when Bryce Petty got clobbered, the quarterback appears to be ready to start on Saturday.

The New York Jets had a team practice on Wednesday where rookie quarterback Bryce Petty was able to participate entirely without any issues, which means he should be in line to start on Saturday.

Petty was roughed up pretty hard a few weeks ago against the Miami Dolphins when he was sandwiched by Miami’s pro-bowl selected defenders Ndamukong Suh and Cameron Wake. Luckily, the injury was not as bad as it could have been and all the quarterback received was a chest bruise.

“I was concerned after the game, yes,” offensive coordinator Chan Gailey said. “I was concerned, but fortunately, everything showed that there wasn’t anything structurally wrong. It’s just him dealing with it, and he’s handled it well. He’s gotten reps both days, and it looks like he’s throwing the ball OK.”

The playoffs are not in the Jets future for this season, but it will be valuable for Petty to gain the much-needed experience in these final games of the season, especially against a tough team like the Patriots.
