New York Giants punter Brad Wing was named NFC Special Teams Player of the week for his performance in the Giants 10-7 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night.
Brad Wing became the first New York Giants punter to receive the Special Teams Player of the Week Award since Jeff Feagles won it in Week 13 of the 2005 season, which, ironically, also came against the Dallas Cowboys.
He also became the second Giant to be named special team’s player of the week this season. Cornerback Janoris Jenkins won this award in week two after scoring a touchdown on a block field goal attempt in the Giants 16-13 win over the New Orleans Saints.
In a game played in adverse conditions where field position was crucial, Wing proved to be a key factor in the Giants win.
He punted the ball nine times and averaged 43.2 yards per punted. His longest punt of the evening traveled 57 yards, and five of his punts were downed inside the Dallas 20-yard line.
The Giants will need another solid performance from Wing this Sunday as they take on the (9-4) Detroit Lions in a game that could be played in inclement weather.
