With his seven tackles, three sacks, a forced fumble, and a TD against the Cleveland Browns, New York Giants’ Jason Pierre-Paul was named NFC Defensive Player Of The Week.
Jason Pierre-Paul became the second New York Giants player this season to be named Defensive Player of the Week, joining safety Landon Collins who’s been named Defensive Player Of the Week, twice.
It was the fourth time in Pierre-Paul’s career that he’s been named NFC Defensive Player Of The Week. For the Giants, only hall of famers Lawrence Taylor (9) and Michael Strahan (5) have been named defensive player of the week more than JPP.
Some question whether or not Pierre-Paul would be able to get back to his All-Pro form after his Fourth of July accident in 2015. Pierre-Paul has silenced his doubters this season, especially with his play over the past two weeks. Over the last two weeks he’s been on an absolute tear registering 12 tackles and 5.5 sacks, and knocking down several passes.
With the way Pierre-Paul has played this season general manager Jerry Reese must make it a priority to resign his star 27-year-old defensive end before he hits the free agency market.
The Giants will need for Pierre-Paul to continue his excellent play as they face the high powered Pittsburgh Steelers offense this Sunday at Heinz Field.
