New York Rangers kids Jimmy Vesey and Russian Buchnevich are ready to showcase their talent in Traverse City.

New York Rangers rookies Jimmy Vesey and Pavel Buchnevich have been a hot topic of conversation for Blueshirt’s fans all summer.

The two young guns understand that the expectations are large and that it will take a big campaign to impress under the bright lights of New York.

Despite being fully expected to make the opening-night roster, Vesey is ready to fight for roster spots.

“I’m not going to go in with the mindset that it’s going to be given to me,” Vesey told Brett Cyrgalis of the New York Post. “I still have to earn my spot, and that’s what I’m going to do.”

Buchnevich, on the other hand, told Cyrgalis that he just wants to play again.

“I’m tired of practicing. I want to start playing,” he said in a humorous manner.

The two will certainly be players to watch when they are featured in the annual Traverse City prospect tournament that begins tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how they will fare this season, as the duo are expected to be in Alain Vigneault’s top nine come opening night against the New York Islanders.
