New York Giants tackle Ereck Flowers hinted that he doesn’t miss his old coach. Could tensions have cooled with a new regime?
The transition from collegiate to professional football is difficult enough, let alone making the switch from right to left tackle. Ereck Flowers endured his fair share of adversity in year one (not to mention a nagging ankle injury) which also included a seemingly rocky relationship with former offensive line coach Pat Flaherty.
New o-line coach Pat Solari’s impact on Flowers has revealed the young tackle’s approval for a new mentor. Furthermore, it has also hinted at a disapproval for his former coach, “It is a good adjustment, in every way,” Flowers told the NY Post.
Sounds like Mr. Flowers is happy Flaherty is out of town.
One Giants player was asked if Flowers was happier working under Solari than Flaherty. His response, “That’s fair.”

The passive-aggressive tone taken from the words of the players can be taken several different ways. Whichever way you interpret it, it’s clear Flowers seems much happier in year two.
Flaherty was very well respected around the New York Giants organization for many years. He was the coach when Shaun O’Hara, David Diehl, Chris Snee and others anchored a strong offensive front.
You would have liked to see coach Flaherty continue to develop young talent, but times change, and different players adapt to different styles.
