In the past the New York Jets Green & White Scrimmage played as a real game. In 2015, head coach Todd Bowles is approaching it differently.

Under new head coach Todd Bowles, it’s going to be handled a little differently.
Instead of an actual scrimmage, the event will be treated more as a “practice.” There will be full 11 on 11 team functions, but positions will also break out into individuals (position groupings) like regular practice routinely sees.
There won’t even be full contact tonight at MetLife Stadium, at 7 PM ET for this free admission event.
Bowles explained his reasoning, via Rich Cimini of ESPN New York:
“It’s been a long week. Maybe if it had been a shorter week, maybe it would’ve been a scrimmage game. But we’ve hit a lot here. It’s another continuation of our process. We’re not going to break camp mode.”
With Antonio Allen and Dee Miliner recently going down in the secondary with injuries, perhaps Bowles is thinking of getting to the first preseason game with a clean bill of health.
