Brett Gardner and the New York Yankees completed a two-game sweep of the Boston Red Sox. The “corner” has officially been turned.

The New York Yankees are back. I know I’ve said this before, but this time, I really feel it. The Bombers have now beaten the Boston Red Sox twice in a row at home and looked good doing it.

On Tuesday, James Paxton returned to form and tossed his best game since his no-hitter. The lefty tossed eight innings of two-hit ball and fanned 12 batters. It’s crazy how the lesson of tipping pitches so drastically changes an individual’s game.

Every single person in the starting lineup recorded a hit. Even Mike Tauchman got in on the action, smashing a second deck three-run bomb for his first career home run.

On Wednesday, J.A. Happ turned in a quality start after struggling in the first two innings. Brett Gardner came through with a clutch grand slam in the seventh innings and the bullpen locked the game down after that.

These are two strong wins for a team that’s been, quite frankly, playing like trash to start the year. Regardless of the never-ending parade of injuries, the Yankees should be at the top of the division fighting with the Tampa Bay Rays for supremacy.

These two huge wins over the arch-rival and defending World Series champion Red Sox are exactly the spark this team needed to turn the corner manager Aaron Boone has been talking so much about.
