It was a busy week for the Rangers with four games in six days but they continued to get contributions from all over the lineup.
The one thing that you have to like about the New York Rangers is that they always battle no matter what the situation is. That was the case from all three of this week’s stars who continue to perform on the big stage.
Obviously, it’s ideal to have players battle on a consistent basis, but sometimes that’s just not the case. These three players have shown that they are warriors in the past, even if one of them is just making a name for himself in the NHL.
With that here are this week’s three stars.
3. Mats Zuccarello
Mats Zuccarello continues to amaze with what he can do on the ice.
Zuccarello had a three-point week and that does not include his shootout goal against the Dallas Stars. He came up huge this week, a week where the Rangers struggled out of the gate but were able to rebound.
For “Zucc” he continues to show up on a consistent basis even if he feels he doesn’t have it that night. After a rough start to the season, it seems that Zuccarello has turned that corner and is back to the player that all Ranger fans know and love.
2. Brady Skjei
Having a young stud defenseman is great, and the Rangers have one in Brady Skjei.
When Ryan McDonagh went down with an injury, Skeji had to step up and play a bigger defensive role. He did that quietly and the Rangers now know that he can defend and put up points.
Skjei had a three-point week for the Rangers which is promising considering the fact that he hasn’t been putting up points at the same rate a season ago. This is a direct result of Skjei being paired with Kevin Shattenkirk, but Skjei is continuing to show he is here to stay.
1. Michael Grabner
Michael Grabner has 42 goals in 109 games as a Ranger.
Grabner just continues to be a revelation for this Rangers team. He is doing things that no fan imagined they would get when they signed Grabner a season ago. We all knew that he was fast, but we didn’t know that he was a great overall player.
With a three-point week, Grabner is showing that he doesn’t plan on slowing down. For the Rangers, they are going to need Grabner to keep up this pace if they want to stay in the middle of the playoff race in the Eastern Conference.
