Embattled defenseman Tony DeAngelo won’t be shipped off to Hartford and will instead remain in the NHL with the New York Rangers.

During his pregame press conference, Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault was asked about what he was going to do with Tony DeAngelo, who is scratched for the second straight game.

Vigneault said that he will keep DeAngelo in the NHL for now and plans to get him back into the lineup at some point. He was impressed with DeAngelo’s training camp and preseason and doesn’t feel that DeAngelo needs to go to Hartford quite yet.

Vigneault went on to add that winger Jesper Fast is close to returning to the Rangers. Fast will gave the Rangers a penalty killing and defensive presence as a winger.

Fast had hip surgery in the offseason and missed camp and the start of the season. While there is no way to tell who exactly would be removed from the roster for Fast, the safe money would be on Paul Carey, who was not expected to make the team but had a very strong camp.
