The New York Rangers will play their second preseason game tonight as they host the New Jersey Devils at 7 pm at Madison Square Garden.

The New York Rangers, who are coming off a 1-0 win over the New York Islanders on an OT goal by Neil Pionk, are preparing to take on the Devils with another strong lineup for coach Alain Vigneault to evaluate.

New York Newsday reporter Steve Zipay tweeted the lines the team went with at practice yesterday. Jimmy Vesey-Filip ChytilAdam Tambellini  Chris KreiderLias AnderssonRyan Gropp, Matt Puempel-Kevin HayesMats Zuccarello and Catenacci-David DesharnaisAndrew Desjardins are the forwards the Rangers will play in the game tonight. It’s exciting to see the two 18-year-olds Andersson and Chytil both putting in time tonight.

Steve also tweeted the defenseman and goalies in action tonight: Brady SkjeiKevin Shattenkirk, Vince Pedrie-Brendan Smith, Marc Staal-John Gilmour.

Henrik Lundqvist and Alexander Georgiev will share the cage. The team and the home fans will get to see the debut of newly acquired and highly regarded defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk. With the way games have been called so far this preseason, he should get plenty of opportunities on the power play.

Rangers Make Some Cuts

The Rangers trimmed their roster a little as they sent Robin Kovacs, Adam Chapie and Brenden Kotyk to the Hartford Wolfpack (AHL). Timothy Gettinger and Ty Ronning were sent back to their Junior teams.
