The future of the New York Knicks collided with the past – probably – when Carmelo Anthony met up with Frank Ntilikina and Tim Hardaway Jr.

The latest edition of pickup basketball with Carmelo Anthony features the new Knicks backcourt of Tim Hardaway Jr. and Frank Ntilikina. The youngsters have been featured on Chris Brickley’s Instagram page before, including in a workout together, but never in one of hoodie Melo’s popular pickup games.

Brickley is Anthony’s long-time trainer. He’s begun training Ntilikina and Hardaway since their arrivals in New York. The young duo is supposed to be the future of the Knicks. With Melo hoping to move on to Houston, it’s anticipated that he’s part of the past.

Knicks fans still haven’t gotten a look at Frank Ntilikina against NBA players in a real game. Due to injuries, Ntilikina wasn’t able to participate in the preseason. It’s important for the rookie point guard to go up against elite NBA competition. He needs that experience.

Frank and Hardaway playing together as much as possible before the season begins is important for the Knicks. They hope to have those two as their starting backcourt when the season opens on Oct. 19 in Oklahoma City against the Thunder. They’ll have their hands full.
