The New York Rangers have signed Lias Andersson, their seventh overall pick in the 2017 Draft, to a three-year entry-level contract.

Jeff Gorton announced earlier this morning that Lias Andersson, the 18-year-old First Round draft pick of the New York Rangers, has signed a contract officially beginning his journey to Madison Square Garden.

Andersson played in 42 games this past season with HV71 of the Swedish Hockey League where he had careers highs in goals scored (9), assists (10), points (19) and plus/minus (+21). Andersson also led all scorers, under 20 years of age, in the league last season.

HV71 went on to win the Swedish Hockey Championship as Andersson registered four goals and one assist in 16 playoffs games.

  • CapFriendly is reporting that his three-year contract is for $2.75 million with an annual cap hit of $925,000 per year.  He will be a restricted free agent when his contract expires in 2020

Andrersson will attend Rangers training camp in September with intentions of making the team as possibly the fourth line center.
