Alain Vigneault turned out to be the star of the night in Nashville as he chose the right two hockey players to represent his club in the shootout.

Both Jimmy Vesey and Mats Zuccarello lit the lamp as Henrik Lundqvist stopped both shots in propelling the New York Rangers to the 2-1 victory in the shootout.

The lone regulation goal-scorer for New York came in the form of Rick Nash, a man who has now tallied goals in back-to-back games after returning from a groin injury. His goal came at the 7:47 mark of the first period, providing New York with the 1-0 lead.

For the Preds, Mike Fisher scored his ninth goal of the season in the second period, coming unassisted.

Lundqvist picked up the victory as he stopped 31 of the 32 shots he faced on the night. Juuse Saros stopped 26-of-27 on his end of the ice.

Next up for the Blueshirts will be the New Jersey Devils for a Sunday night matchup at Madison Square Garden.
