Andrew Ladd and Jason Chimera got on the board as the New York Islanders picked up a much-needed win against the Vancouver Canucks.

Building Momentum
The Islanders finally snapped their slump after defeating the Vancouver Canucks 4-2 Monday night. They had previously lost three straight including two consecutive shootout losses, but that was put to bed as the Islanders fought off a desperate Canucks team to record a much-needed regulation win.
Jaroslav Halak recorded 30 saves on 32 shots for a .938 save percentage. He has been hot in his past 3 games. Adam Pelech had a phenomenal debut, recording an assist and a +1 rating.
Ending on a High Note
After falling behind 1-0 on a giveaway by Shane Prince and a subsequent goal by Daniel Sedin, the Islanders regrouped and did not look back.
It was a night of firsts as Jason Chimera scored his first goal of the season assisted by Anders Lee and Brock Nelson. Nikolay Kulemin followed suit shortly thereafter putting the Islanders up 2-1 on a rebound in front of a gaping net.
The ugliest part of the night was on the penalty kill, yet again. The Islanders killed the first one of but Markus Granlund cashed in and tied the game.
But the third period was all Islanders. After blowing so many leads in the 3rd period the Cal Clutterbuck put the Islanders up 3-2 on backhand rebound from Ryan Miller‘s pads.
The fourth, final and most notable goal of the game was Andrew Ladd‘s slapshot after a feed from Nick Leddy.
It wasn’t a perfect game by the Islanders but they did what they needed to do to get an important regulation win at the Barclays Center. The Islanders will play the Tampa Bay Lightning this Thursday in Tampa.
