Coming off of a 3-2 victory against the Arizona Coyotes, the New York Islanders are looking to build off that momentum against the Wild.
Injuries, Waivers and More
It’s been an interesting couple of days for the New York Islanders. Before beating the Coyotes on Friday night it was announced that Nick Leddy was day-to-day with an apparent injury. Fans were upset at the news about Leddy, yet excited to see Ryan Pulock back in the big league.In only the first period of action, Ryan Pulock suffered an apparent lower body injury and did not return for the rest of the game. He is expected to miss 4 – 6 weeks.
Fortunately, it seems Leddy is ready to go sooner rather than later, having participated in the team’s open practice on Saturday. So with Pulock gone for likely all of November, it will be Adam Pelech that gets the call should another defenseman fall prey to the injury bug.
Eric Boulton was placed on waivers on Saturday for the purpose of being assigned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Today, he cleared waivers and will join the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
This frees up a roster spot for the Islanders who will probably use it for the 7th defenseman once they figure out who the six primary defenders will be. Despite how well Seidenberg has played, he was signed as defensive insurance and should take the spot as the spare Dman while one of the Bridgeport kids plays.
Isles vs. Wild
The Minnesota Wild are coming off of a 2-1 loss in overtime to the New Jersey Devils. The Wild are off to a great start who in five games are 3-1-1. Devan Dubnyk was in net for the Wild against the Devils, so it’s expected that Darcy Kuemper will get the start for Minnesota.
The Islanders are coming off their second win of the season and want to start stringing their W’s together. Thomas Greiss will get the nod for the Islanders tonight, his only other game played was a 2-1 loss in Washington. Nick Leddy has been confirmed for the game tonight, and the Islanders will maintain the same group of forwards.
