New York Rangers young stud Jimmy Vesey collected his first National Hockey League goal at Madison Square Garden on Monday night.

The biggest question of the offseason was, “Where is Jimmy Vesey gonna go?”

The reigning Hobey Baker winner out of Harvard needed to find a new home upon completion of his collegiate career.. Vesey was a third round pick by the Nashville Predators in 2012 and nearly 15 teams had interest this offseason after the Buffalo Sabres were unable to sign him last year.

In the end, Vesey landed with the New York Rangers. He has impressed in camp and practices, but has yet to pick up a point in his first two games.

That would not last for long as in the third period of Monday night’s game against the San Jose Sharks, Vesey’s line mate Mats Zuccarello made a play that allowed Derek Stepan to provide him with a beautiful setup. Vesey hammered it home for his first career NHL goal (video above).

Vesey’s goal was big. It was the nail in the coffin in a 7-4 Rangers victory against San Jose.
