The New York Rangers’ struggling forward Rick Nash has been given a leadership role this morning, as the club announced via Twitter.

There is news in RangersTown, but news that many fans may disagree with.

This morning, the New York Rangers announced that Rick Nash has been given a serious and legitimate leadership role on the roster:

Now this does come as a little bit of a shock.

Nash has been in New York for four year’s and has put up good numbers, but nothing like what fans thought they were getting when he was traded for.

The Blueshirts obviously see that Nash has stood out during the preseason and has been seen in a leadership role by younger players as well as fellow teammates.

Marc Staal, Dan Girardi, and Derek Stepan all retain their alternate positions, and Nash can now be added to the list.

As it has been seen in years passed, players often turn to another gear with the A or C on their sweater. Perhaps for Nash, this will be no different.

Hopefully, this means a ton of goals for the Rangers this season, a fan can hope, right?
