The New York Yankees have traded starting pitcher Ivan Nova to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

According to Jon Heyman of Today’s Knuckleball, the New York Yankees have shipped right-hander Ivan Nova to the Pirates just ahead of the 4 pm ET trade deadline.

Nova, 29, is 7-6 on the year with a 4.90 ERA, drawing doubt as to whether teams were interested in his services.

With that said, a Pirates team desperately trying to make up ground in the NL playoff race made the move in order to bolster a questionable starting staff.

This puts an end to a 6.5-year tenure in the Bronx which saw Nova tally 53 wins while recording a 4.41 ERA.
