The New York Rangers have struck first against the St. Louis Blues with a beautiful deflection from Tanner Glass. The Rangers are up 1-0 in the first period.

New York Rangers’ forward Tanner Glass deflected a Dan Girardi shot to put the Blueshirts up 1-0.

The goal came after shortly after a surge by the Blues, who caught the New York Rangers on a long shift.

The Rangers have been quick through the neutral zone and have put together a strong forecheck. Both Ryan McDonagh and Marc Staal are back in the lineup and have looked fine.

Congratulations to Henrik Lundqvist who passed New York Ranger great Mike Richter for most saves in franchise history. Hank has been solid through the first period and has made up for some bad Ranger turnovers.

If the Rangers can put more shots on net they should be more successful moving forward.
