In less than two weeks the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers will be kicking off their 2015 football schedule at home against Norfolk State. News came down today that won’t have anybody jumping up and down with enthusiasm for the opener.

Starting quarterback Chris Laviano and standout wide receiver Lenote Caroo will be suspended for the first half of that game.

According to Joe Schad of ESPN, the two college kids violated curfew, prompting head coach Kyle Flood to make the disciplinary action go down.

Hayden Rettig, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound sophomore, will get the start in place of Laviano. Rettig is a transfer from LSU who played in five games as a redshirt freshman, completing 11 passes and rushing for 69 yards.

Also suspended for a half will be punter Tim Gleeson, linebacker Kevin Marquez and cornerback Ruhann Peele.

Rutgers looks to improve upon their 8-5 record a season ago in this, their second season in the Big 10.
