Taj Gibson is going to spend time in the frontcourt with Mitchell Robinson and he believes his New York Knicks teammate is full of potential.

Mitchell Robinson seems to be making an impression on his New York Knicks teammates in training camp. Ten-year veteran Taj Gibson is one of Robinson’s teammates who can’t say enough about the energy the second-year center brings.

“That’s my guy. We’re clashing all day in practice, constantly joking around,” Gibson said of Robinson, via Chris Iseman of NJ.com

Robinson was a mystery as a rookie. He committed to Western Kentucky University, but left school before ever playing a game. Although he was a McDonald’s All-American and a potential lottery pick, he fell to the second round due to his gap year.

But as a rookie, Robinson showed everyone is ridiculous talent on both ends of the floor. Robinson was one of the few positive storylines for the Knicks during their 17-win season. Gibson still thinks Robinson can grow into an even better player.

“He has a lot more to offer than what you see. He’s only scratched the surface,” Gibson said.

Robinson had a 29-game streak in which he recorded two blocks. His innate timing and ridiculous length make him a natural rim-protector.

On the offensive end, the 7-footer is a bit more limited. Most of his offense came off of putbacks and lobs, but Robinson is hoping to change that this year. He’s talked at length about adding the three-point shot to his arsenal.
