Those homecooked family meals in the greater Tampa area will have to wait.
The Bombers are in position to cut the divisional lead to 0.5 thanks to Masahiro Tanaka who delivered a brilliant outing. Tanaka surrendered one run on five hits and no walks while striking out seven in seven innings of work.
Tanaka’s only blemish is an Austin Meadows solo shot in the sixth. He’s in line for his third victory of the young campaign, should the lights cooperate.
Offensively, DJ LeMahieu snagged a starring role yet again. His two hits, including an RBI knock in the fifth, currently lead the way. Outfielder Mike Tuchman’s fifth-inning double that scored Austin Romine opened the day’s scoring.
