Just about every New York Yankee from the 1998 team will be attending the 20th-anniversary ceremony except for Derek Jeter.

Confirmed on Monday, former New York Yankees’ captain Derek Jeter will not be attending the 1998 World Series ceremony celebrating its 20-year anniversary as taking place on Aug. 18.

Remember, he is an owner now and a busy, busy man.

Jeter, who is the primary owner of the Miami Marlins has yet to come back to Yankee Stadium since becoming their acting CEO. He did, however, step back into the Bronx shortly after his career ended on the day they celebrated his retirement ceremony.

Derek Jeter will instead be seen on screen in a video tribute to the fans prior to the festivities.

The other non-attendees include Orlando “El Duque” Hernandez; World Series MVP and now the third base coach for the Seattle Mariners, Scott Brosius; and former Yankees’ manager Joe Girardi.

Fans can expect to see many of the core pieces of the ’98 championship team: David Cone, Paul O’Neil, Mariano Rivera, David Wells, Andy Pettitte, Jorge Posada, “Burn baby Burn” Bernie Williams, Tino Martinez, and “The Don” former manager Joe Torre will all be present.

The coaching staff of Willie Randolph, Chris Chambliss, Jose Cardenal and widow of former Yankees bench coach Don Zimmer, Soot Zimmer will also be in attendance

Many remember this team for the dominance they showed on a nightly basis. Their overall record of 114-48 is third all-time behind the 1906 Chicago Cubs and 2001 Seattle Mariners. Of those teams, the Yankees were the only ones to win the World Series in the same year while finishing the 1998 postseason with a combined record of 125-50.

Next Saturday will be one to remember in the house that Ruth built.
