National Lacrosse League (NLL) commissioner Nick Sakiewicz joins Schwartz on Sports to discuss the great game of lacrosse and beyond.

The National Lacrosse League, once known as the Major Indoor Lacrosse League, has begun it’s 32nd season and business is very good. Attendance is up, viewers of games through on-line telecasts are through the roof, and there’s expansion on the way.

Nick Sakiewicz, a long time soccer executive including time as General Manager of the NY/NJ Metrostars (now New York Red Bull’s), is in his second season as the Commissioner of the NLL. There are plans for expansion with teams in San Diego and Philadelphia coming on board next season. Long Island, who once had the New York Saints and New York Titans, could soon have a new team as the league is hoping to put a team in the new Nassau Coliseum.

Sakiewicz, a former professional soccer goalkeeper who once played for the New York Arrows at the Nassau Coliseum, joins me on this edition of “Schwartz On Sports” to talk about the NLL’s growth, the new season, and the possibility that indoor lacrosse will soon return to the Nassau Coliseum.
