While appearing on WFAN, Frank Isola of The New York Daily News stated that he thinks he knows who would fill Phil Jackson’s spot.
Frank Isola of The New York Daily News appeared on WFAN’s “Benigno and Roberts” to give his take on the situation with the Knicks. As far as Phil Jackson’s replacement, Isola has a home run idea.Isola thinks that San Antonio Spurs general manager R.C. Buford would take the Knicks job. Buford has won five championships with the Spurs.
He started out in the organization as an assistant coach under Larry Brown before leaving and then returning to work his way up the front office ladder during Gregg Popovich’s regime.
Buford started out as a head scout under Popovich in 1994. He was promoted to vice president/assistant general manager in 1999 and obtained his current title of general manager in 2002.
If James Dolan could somehow talk Buford into leaving San Antonio for The Big Apple it would be his greatest achievement as an owner.
