The New York Yankees are looking to get back on track as they welcome in the Texas Rangers for a three-game set in the Bronx.

Following their third straight series loss, the New York Yankees are looking to right the ship as they take on the Texas Rangers at Yankee Stadium for a three-game weekend series.

Taking the hill for New York will be “ace” Masahiro Tanaka, who’s coming off yet another dismal start against the Oakland Athletics on Saturday on the West Coast. The righty took the loss after allowing five earned runs on eight hits in four innings of work. Since May 18, Tanaka owns an 8.91 ERA with 15 home runs allowed in 33.1 innings of work.

Going against him will be fellow Japanese hurler, Yu Darvish. The 30-year-old is 6-5 on the year with a 3.35 ERA in 15 starts. In his career at Yankee Stadium, Yankee hitters own a .279/.311/.628 slash line with an OPS of .939 — the third-highest opponent’s OPS behind Camden Yards and Fenway Park.

Lineups:

Player To Watch: Brett Gardner

In his career against Darvish, the longest-tenured Yankee is 5-for-11 (.455) with four home runs. Gardner’s slugging percentage of 1.545 against the righty is the highest among any pitcher he has faced at least nine times in his career.

Darlin’ Starlin:

After going 1-for-4 on Thursday night, Yankees’ second baseman Starlin Castro became the only Major League hitter to record hits in 56 of his team’s first 70 games this season. He’s also Top-5 in baseball with 12 home runs, a wRC+ total of 126, a batting average of .320 and is second to only Daniel Murphy with 91 hits.

Bronx Blues:

After falling to the Angels in the rubber game of that series, the Yankees fell to 1-8 since June 12. That’s the worst record in the AL and the second-worst in all of baseball trailing only the San Francisco Giants — who are 1-9 in that same span.
