With the bases loaded and just one out, New York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom is bailed out by a tremendous Jose Reyes catch.

With Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels in town, Terry Collins‘ club needed a big night — especially with current ace Jacob deGrom on the mound.

Nursing a 2-0 lead in the top of the 7th-inning, deGrom found himself in trouble as he loaded the bases with no outs. After striking a man out, his shortstop, Jose Reyes, may have just come up with the New York Mets catch of the season.

From the shortstop position, Reyes went back on a shallow popup and got leather on the ball. Though it was juggled, he hauled it in to secure the all-important second out (video above).

After deGrom forced the next batter to fly out to right, Michael Conforto smacked his 11th home run of the season to lead off the bottom of the seventh.

The score of 3-0 is where the two teams stand at the top of the 8th-inning.
