New York Yankees starter Michael Pineda is dealing so far in his home opener appearance, going perfect through five innings.

The New York Yankees are opening up Yankee Stadium for the 2017 season in style thus far, with Michael Pineda not allowing a base runner during the first five innings.

Against a Rays team in which Pineda struggled heavily against last week in his first start of the season, he is in straight cruise control today.

The right-hander has retired the first 15 batters who have walked up to the plate, leaving him flirting with history in just his second start of the young season.

In five innings, Pineda already has seven strikeouts and has not hung any sliders, which is the key reason he is doing so well. The only word to describe how Big Mike is currently looking is sharp.

With Pineda looking for his first win since August 5, 2016 and there is a possibility he could do it in style with the performance he has put up so far.
