After Charles Oakley was booted from MSG and arrested, the New York Knicks proceeded to crumble against the Los Angeles Clippers.
- New York Knicks 115 (22-32)
- Los Angeles Clippers 119 (32-21)
- NBA, Final, Box Score
- Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
For these New York Knicks, it doesn’t matter if a ghost of past great Knickerbocker teams makes a loud, extremely rude statement.
They’ll still choke the game away.
By now you’ve heard that ex-Knickerbocker Charles Oakley was in a fiery mode while watching from the Madison Square Garden stands. He was booted from the arena and arrested after he got into it with multiple security guards:
It simply didn’t matter. Despite scoring 95 points through three quarters, the Knicks choked up a 10-point fourth quarter lead and were outscored by 11 in that final frame, ultimately falling to the Los Angeles Clippers by the final of 119-115.
Carmelo Anthony had a chance to tie the game with under 10 seconds to go, but rushed a top-of-the-arc three that hit back rim.
Speaking of Melo, he was one of three Knicks who finished with over 20 points (28 points in total on 10-20 from the floor). Kristaps Porzingis (27) and Derrick Rose (20) were the other two.
For the Clippers, Blake Griffin paved the way with 32 points while DeAndre Jordan was a menace down low (15 rebounds, two blocks) and Jamaal Crawford was a thorn in the side of the Knicks late in the game.
Now a full 10 games under .500, there isn’t one positive thing that could be said about this squad. Not even a feisty Charles Oakley could provide a spark.
Next up will be the Denver Nuggets at home for that cute little-themed show known as Friday Night Knicks.
