The New York Knicks passed Chasson Randle over as third-string point guard before the season and stuck with Ron Baker. Randle has moved on.
The New York Knicks had two point guards before the season. They had a choice to make between Ron Baker and Chasson Randle (neither a true point guard) to fill the third-string position and went with Baker.
The Knicks saw something in Randle as they promptly assigned him to their D-Leauge affiliate in Westchester, but Baker’s recent play has rendered any need for Randle obsolete.

Randle has wisely decided to move on with the Philadelphia 76ers. Marc Berman of The New York Post reported Sunday the 23-year-old was trying out with Philly and Monday afternoon Shams Charania of The Vertical reported Randle and the Sixers agreed to a 10-day contract.
This is big news for the Knicks. Regardless of whether they wanted to be locked into Baker as their third-string point guard or not unless they make a move right now, he is the guy.

Most fans thought we’d see Randle with the team at some point this season. Nobody was counting on Baker and Jeff Hornacek bonding the way they clearly have. Baker even referred to the coach as his “doppelganger.”
We wish Randle all the best with the Sixers. Regardless of where it is it will be nice to see him finally get a chance at the NBA level.
