Chris Mullin and his St. John’s Red Storm Men’s Basketball Team have officially signed their newest recruit, Zach Brown.
As the St. John’s men’s basketball squad gets the regular season started, they will be expected to improve upon last year’s disappointing record.
They should be expected to improve even more the following season after officially signing their top recruit, Zach Brown.
St. John’s received the formal paperwork from Brown, officially making him a Red Storm for the 2017-2018 season.
Brown is a big 7’1″, 260 pound center from Miami. He first committed with the Red Storm back on July 21.
Brown’s attitude is questioned. He recently left the powerhouse Putnam Science Academy prep program after a fight on the court. He is dealing with robbery charges as well.
Despite his baggage, head coach Chris Mullin and his staff were still high on him and his talents, and the positive support they gave him led Brown to commit to the Red Storm.
Brown is currently finishing his senior year at Calusa Prep.
If he can stay out of trouble, he will be a big prize for St. John’s on the court. He is considered a top-60 player by most recruiting services and a top 40 player by ESPN. Brown is also the highest recruited player to come to St. John’s since Rysheed Jordan back in 2013.
Brown is a big guy who will add much-needed size to the Red Storm frontcourt and rebound. St. John’s hopes that he will be the final piece for them to reach the NCAA tournament.
