A Sunday matinee provided the New York Yankees with an opportunity to move two games above .500 for the first time since April 14 and sweep away a dismal opponent. However, the direct opposite ensued.

Nathan Eovaldi surrendered four homers accounting for five earned runs, including back-to-back-to-back in the sixth, as he was subpar on the mound for a fifth straight outing. Danny Santana lined a solo shot in the third, and then Brian Dozier, Trevor Plouffe, and Max Kepler went deep sequentially in the sixth inning to break the game open.
