For some reason the Colorado Rockies have the New York Yankees’ number. Once again they beat up on the Yanks in all facets of the game in a series opening win at Yankee Stadium.

The deceiving offense that New York possesses blew multiple opportunities to capitalize throughout the contest and ended up 0-10 with runners in scoring position. They let Colorado starter Chad Bettis off the hook as the right-hander came out unscathed with only two earned runs allowed on eight hits over six frames.

Limiting the damage paved the way for a potent offensive attack featured by the Rockies against Ivan Nova, who struggled yet again on the mound.

The 29-year-old watched his ERA rise to a subpar 5.18 as he was trounced for eight hits and six earned runs in four-plus innings.

Nova likely did not leave the game ready to give Charlie Blackmon a high-five. Out of the leadoff slot, the center fielder went deep twice off Nova. His first shot came leading off the game as he sent one high off the right field foul pole, and his second came in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 5-2.

Nolan Arenado drove in three runs for the Rockies, collecting an RBI off Nova and later going deep down the left field line for a two-run dinger off Nick Goody to provide an exclamation point and make it a 8-3 ballgame.
