Daniel Murphy who? New York Mets new second-baseman Neil Walker just smashed his record-breaking ninth home run of April.

This guy is just unbelievable right now.

Yeah, sure, Washington Nationals second-baseman Daniel Murphy is leading the National League in hitting right now with a batting average close to .400. That is true.

But the new second-baseman who makes his living at Citi Field has just clubbed his ninth home run of April – a new franchise record.

In the bottom of the third inning in a 2-1 game against the Cincinnati Reds, Walker hit a solo shot to extend the Mets lead to two runs (video above). To make it even more impressive, he took it to the opposite field.

Matt Harvey has allowed two runs through five innings of work. The score remains 3-2 as the Mets are getting ready to bat in their half of the fifth inning.
