Backup catcher Kevin Plawecki homering turned out to be one of the few bright-spots for the New York Mets on Saturday against the Cards.

It was a disappointing day for the New York Mets in the grand scheme of things on Saturday.

The St. Louis Cardinals teed off on Mets pitching to the tune of four home runs and 14 total runs. New York ran nine runs across home plate.

Brandon Moss and Randal Grichuk each hit two-run shots and drove in four runs apiece for the Cards, while Kevin Plawecki hit a two-run home run himself.

Bartolo Colon, who took the ball from manager Terry Collins in this one, was roughed up. He allowed four runs on six hits in 3.2 innings.
