Though New York Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz got through the first two innings, it was the third that proved costly against the Nats.

This game in Viera, Florida today told a tale of two different stories for two different pitchers.

On one hand, Washington Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg mowed down the New York Mets in three innings of work. He surrendered just one run and three hits in those three innings.

Steven Matz, the Mets starter, pitched flawlessly through two innings, but found trouble in the third. He wound up loading the bases prior to getting lifted only to watch reliever Antonio Bastardo give up three runs (all earned to Matz).

In the end the Nats picked up their seventh win of the spring in the 9-5 victory over the Mets.
